My Experience with the Product: I’ve loved cooking and baking ever since I can remember and could be found in the kitchen making meals before I was even a teenager. However, even though I’ve been cooking for a number of years, one thing I’ve never really mastered are knife skills. I’m not sure if it’s because of my super small hands and short fingers or that I haven’t had a great knife set, or both. So, when I was offered a chance to review a Cuisinart Food Processor, I was jumping for joy! I was really impressed that just a few days after my food processor was ordered, it arrived in perfect condition. My item did arrive in the manufacturer box, so this is something to keep in mind when you’re gifting items.
I received the Cuisinart 14-cup food processor in a beautiful stainless steel that includes:
- Food Processor Base in Brushed Stainless Steel
- 14-Cup Work Bowl with Handle
- Work Bowl Cover with Extra Large Feed Tube, Large Pusher and Sleeve Assembly
- Small Feed Tube and Pusher
- Stainless Steel Slicing Disc (4mm)
- Medium Shredding Disc
- Stainless Steel Chopping/Mixing Blade
- Dough Blade
- Instruction/Recipe booklet
I wanted to test out the food processor with a recipe that used multiple parts of the machine and I immediately settled on a dish that the boyfriend had been begging me to make for months, but I hadn’t because I hated all the time it took to slice to make: scalloped potatoes. I immediately fell in love with the food processor as it sliced all the veggies into the perfect size in seconds and shredded cheese in seconds that would probably have taken me 5 minutes to do by hand (it’s also a great money saver to buy cheese in blocks instead of pre-shredded). One super bonus I found with this particular food processor is the large feed tube, which allowed me to put in some REALLY large potatoes (enough baked potato for 3 people in one potato, folks) with out needing to cut them down first other than in half. The large 14-cup bowl is also super nice so I wasn’t having to constantly empty it to complete the job. The even better part – no looking like my cat died from chopping up the onions! Next up, I decided to try out the food processor in a less common way, as a mixer using the dough hook. Some Southern Buttermilk Biscuits seemed like the perfect recipe to try. I enjoyed not having to get my hands all doughy and looking like something out of a horror movie. The food processor also helps the biscuits come out better because in not having to mix as much, your biscuits will be all the fluffier. Plus, not using your hands that warm up the ingredients as much as usual, means colder ingredients that equal a better final product. Not to mention, biscuits take a much shorter time to prepare in the food processor than by hand. To see my Food Processor Buttermilk Biscuits recipe, just follow the link.
So, one other question you might be asking, which is also a reason I have stayed away from food processors in the past, is yeah, you may save some time prepping the food, but you’ll spend it later in washing all the parts! Well, that’s what our partners and kids are for, right? 😉 Yeah, like that’s going to happen. Luckily, the food processor parts can all be washed in the dishwasher and come out sparkling clean! Even though you can put all of the stainless steel blades in, I will probably wash those by hand, as I do my knives, to ensure they stay nice and sharp.
Final Takeaway: I really love this food processor and am happy to have it in time for all of the holiday cooking to make my life a bit easier.
