Almost every year it seems no matter how clean we keep the house and keep things put away, ants find their way in. I’ve tried a lot of natural remedies such as cayenne and cinnamon, but none seem to really work that great. Next year I’ll have a new weapon in my arsenal thanks to Combat Source Kill MAX.
The Products: Combat Source Kill MAX in Child-Resistant Bait Stations and Gel options
My Experience with the Products: Even though I’ve lived in a few different places the past couple years, it seems that while living next to the woods and no matter how clean we keep the house with dirty dishes and food put away, the ants somehow find their way in. As I said, we’ve tried several of the natural home remedies such as putting down cayenne and cinnamon, but they just don’t really seem to help much against the ant parade.
Generally I don’t like using chemical options due to their toxicity, especially since we have pets. However, it’s not the most attractive or sanitary thing to see ants dancing the conga into your house constantly, plus having food ruined, so I started looking for an option that was well contained and not a spray that could mist around into the air that we breathe in – yuck! That’s why I was happy to be able to try out Combat Source Kill Max Ant repellent solutions.
I was sent two different options, the child-resistant bait stations and the gel. I really liked both options because you are really in control of where the product is applied. You of course still don’t want your kids or pets all over the area you place the insecticides, but it at least gives the piece of mind that it’s not as easy to get to.
The gel is a fast-acting formula that can work as quickly as in hours and up to 1 month. It’s effective against Argentine, Carpenter, Cornfield, Pharaoh, White Footed, Odorous House, Pavement and Little Black Ant varieties. I really like that you apply it with an applicatior that is kind of like a syringe, so that you can just get it in the places you want, like corners or cracks.
The other product is a bit more like a trap and is used as a more long-term solution as any ants take the “food” back to the colony. I think this would be great if you happen to have one particular spot that the ants usually go to that can be kept up and away from your kids and pets.
